The Prayer Breakfast was organised in preparation for Christmas by the EPP Working Group on Intercultural and Religious Dialogue, co-chaired by MEPs Željana Zovko and Vangelis Meimarakis.
The event brought together members of the European Parliament, as well as religious leaders from different Christian Churches. Among them were Fr. Manuel Barrios Prieto, General Secretary of COMECE; Rev. Frank Dieter Fischbach, General Secretary of the Conference of European Churches (CEC); and Rev. George Valcu, General Secretary of the Committee of the Representatives of the Orthodox Churches to the European Union (CROCEU). A delegation of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (I.A.O) was also present.
During the event, an ecumenical prayer was jointly led by the General Secretaries of COMECE, CEC, and CROCEU. They prayed for the European institutions, that they may serve the common good across our continent; for world peace; for the people of Ukraine and the Middle East; and for the protection of Christians in areas of crisis.
The event marks the conclusion of a fruitful year of collaboration between COMECE and the EPP Working Group on Intercultural and Religious Dialogue.
